Meet Our Founder
Stelle Sam is the founder of Hope awakening. A product of Grace, Stelle is no stranger to adversity. 'Resilient,' 'courageous' and 'strong' are just some of the words others have used to describe her. At a young age, she was graced with a deep understanding that no matter what she might go through, there is yet and still hope for tomorrow. Her desire is for hope to be awakened in others as it has been in her life.
With a passion for God and a love for His presence, she spent years pursuing His fullness in worship, particularly through the avenue of song. After a transformative encounter, her passion for prayer was ignited and she has never been the same ever since.
Her love for God naturally led to a love for people. Stelle believes that a Christian's life should be one marked by service to others. Her heart for service has led her into the hospital play rooms of terminally ill and traumatized children, the soup kitchens of east Baltimore, the Saturday enrichment classrooms of inner city youth, and the rural villages of Zambia.
With roots in the West African nation of Cameroon, Stelle believes in the power of combining 'showing love' by meeting needs, and 'sharing Love' by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. With that motive, she founded Hope Awakening, a humanitarian organization with the ambition of transforming lives by bringing hope to seemingly hopeless situations.
Stelle currently resides in St. Louis, where she studies medicine, volunteers in her community and serves in her local church. A self-proclaimed tea, photography and music enthusiast, she enjoys life's simple pleasures.
